The Peanut Gallery's two year old program is carefully planned to promote good self help skills and independence, while at the same time encouraging a sense of sharing and co-operation. At the age of two your child will begin participation in our "High Reach Learning Curriculum". This theme based early childhood program promotes age appropriate activities that stimulate language, creative movement, music, and self help skills. At the end of each week, parents are encourage to pick up their child's activity sheets, art and parent information report. Communication is the key to your child enjoying a successful program.

We encourage parents to check the school calendar daily, so that you can be informed of all activities. One of the biggest changes in most two-year-olds is when they show signs of readiness for toilet training. This interest is approached with love, patience and understanding.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to provide for my child and what does the school provide?

In the two year old classroom, parents are responsible for providing all of their child's diapers, wipes and a nap time blanket. Most parents like to keep a weeks supply of diapers at the center so they do not have to bring them each day. Wipes are brought monthly. The Peanut Gallery provides your child with a daily hot lunch and morning and afternoon snacks.

What type of activities do you offer?

The Peanut Gallery's goal is to provide a safe stimulating environment. In addition to our High Reach Learning Curriculum we offer a wide range of activities such as music, language and gross-motor activities. At no additional cost to our parents we also offer weekly Spanish and music lessons. In addition all of the classrooms are bright and visually stimulating.

What kind of qualifications do you look for in your staff?

All Peanut Gallery employees meet and often exceed the necessary qualifications as established by the State for licensed childcare centers. On a continual basis, The Peanut Gallery provides on-going training for every staff member. The most important thing we look for in our staff members is patience, kindness and the love of children.

How will I know how my child is doing?

The Peanut Gallery firmly believes that communication is the "key" to quality childcare. We take great care in guaranteeing an effective parent/teacher "partnership". In addition to direct contact with your classroom teacher and center director we provide weekly High Reach parent information sheets, bi-monthly newsletters, and monthly calendars. Our >open door=concept allows parents to come at any time and interact with their child and the classroom program. Periodically we hold an "Open House" evening, which provides an excellent opportunity for parents to explore the center and meet all our staff.

Do you toilet train my child?

The Peanut Gallery feels that this process is a joint effort between parents and staff. If your child shows interest in becoming trained, we start by asking parents to follow our potty training guidelines at home. To encourage success we suggest that this be initiated on a weekend and then the training will continue throughout the week both at The Peanut Gallery and at home. This process can sometimes take several weeks and the key to success is making sure this is positive experience.
